2nd WPI NanoLSI-iCeMS Joint Symposium
On January 12th and 13th, iCeMS and NanoLSI held a joint symposium. A total of 170 researchers and students participated in the two-day online symposium. This symposium was held for the second time beginning in 2019 to strengthen the collaboration between the two WPI institutes.
Opening remarks by Dr. Toru Nakano (iCeMS Academy Officer) and Dr. Akihiko Nakano (NanoLSI Program Officer) on the significance of holding the joint symposium. The introductions of institutes by the two directors, Director Susumu Kitagawa of iCeMS, and Director Takeshi Fukuma of NanoLSI kicked off the symposium.
The theme of this year was “Nanometrology and Advanced Materials,” and researchers specializing in nanometrology and supramolecular chemistry were invited to speak, leading to lively discussions in all sessions.
After the lecture, ” Collaborative research round tables” were held for more in-depth discussions leading to joint research.
This initiative will be continued every year to promote the research capabilities of both. Closing remarks were made by Dr. Aiko Fukazawa, Deputy Director of the iCeMS, Dr. Tomoki Ogoshi, NanoLSI PI, and Dr. Yoshihiro Fukumori, Administrative Director of NanoLSI. The symposium closed with wishes for the further development of both institutes and for the next time to be held in person.
