Laboratory tour of Leo Esaki Prize winner held (August 21, 2025)
Professor Toshio Ando of the Nano Life Science Institute (Emeritus and Distinguished Professor at Kanazawa University) has been awarded the 2024 “Leo Esaki Prize” in recognition of his outstanding research achievements in the field of nanotechnology. Read more here.
In commemoration of the award, this program is held annually, allowing high school students from Ibaraki Prefecture to visit the laboratories of the prize winners and experience the appeal of research through lectures and facility tours. This fiscal year, on Thursday, August 21, a total of 26 participants, including 13 high school students selected from five schools in the prefecture, visited the Nano Life Science Institute for a laboratory tour led by Professor Ando.
The laboratory tour featured a comprehensive program, including a lecture by Professor Ando, a lab tour, and hands-on experimental activities. The participating high school students listened attentively with serious expressions, and by experiencing an actual research environment, they appeared to be greatly inspired and stimulated.
